Christian Condit, President/Owner

Louisville, Kentucky

Christian can trace his passion for natural stone back to receiving his first rock polisher at the young age of 7. “I remember looking at the raw stones that came with the kit, thinking there was no way they were the ones pictured on the box. It was pure torture for me to have to wait days and days as the thing turned, wondering if it was going to work. The day I opened it and all the beautifully polished chunks of stone came tumbling out I was hooked. I remember spending hours on the pebble sand bars in the creek behind our house looking for that ‘special stone’, dipping it in water so I could get a little preview of what it would look like after the next run in the polisher. I did not know what I was looking for but I knew I would know when I saw it. That still applies today as I wander through a supplier’s warehouse looking at thousands of different types of stone; you just know it when you see it that it is the ‘right one’. To this day, I still have that rock polisher.”

Christian’s path led him to the University of Nebraska, where he achieved his Arts & Sciences degree in Geology and Geographic Information Systems, with a minor in Portuguese and Speech Communication. His education, experience, and a year spent traveling in Europe culminated in an opportunity to open and run an office in Brazil for International Marketing Systems. This position provided him with a wealth of friends and business contacts, and experience in importing and exporting, due diligence, negotiations, and legal aspects of sales to customers.

Upon his return to the States, Christian discovered through a college friend the amazing stone colors coming out of Brazil. That was the start of Christian’s professional career in the natural stone industry, and he opened his first granite distribution business in 1998 in Kansas City, Kansas, drawing upon his experience and contacts from Brazil to build a successful business. Christian left the business in 2001 and joined Global Granite & Marble, spearheading the company’s first expansion, into Louisville, Kentucky.

“Whether it is karma, destiny, or grace I am not sure. I never dreamed of going into the stone business, but as the events in my life unfolded it seems that every path I chose was leading me unknowingly in that direction. I still wake up every day and want to go to work because to me it is not work - it is something I love to do.

I believe this passion is reflected in the quality and uniqueness of the stone we sell as well as the wonderful staff of professionals whom I have the privilege of working with on a daily basis. I never could have done any of this without the encouragement and loving support of my wonderful wife and children.”
