With a history stretching back 4,000 years, mosaics are the pinnacle of artistry with stone. Mosaics allow masons to use their prowess to essentially paint with stone. The small pieces of tile, or tesserae, allow for blends of colors, curves, and shading that would be otherwise impossible to create. Today’s mosaics combine beauty and practicality since they are pre-assembled on easy to install sheets making them an affordable, but luxurious accent.
